Round#1 Explore as many options as possible.

Bottom Holiday Bar

  • Pros:

    • The card sits at the bottom without interfering with the primary shopping content above, maintaining usability.

  • Cons:

    • Users might ignore the card over time, especially if they perceive it as promotional rather than personalized or helpful.

Holiday Top Cards

  • Pros:

    • Persistent placement ensures ongoing visibility of Black Friday deals without disrupting the overall interface.

  • Cons:

    • If not relevant to the user, it could lead to banner blindness over time.

Popup for Holiday Deals

  • Pros:

    • Contextual popup highlights the most relevant deals directly in the user's workflow.

  • Cons:

    • Popups might be perceived as intrusive by some users, leading to frustration.

Option#1

Bottom Holiday Bar

After reviewing the first-round explorations, the team selected the two least disruptive placement designs. The primary reason for this selection was that both designs were already utilized in other features of the product.

Option#2

Holiday Top Cards

A quick A/B test revealed that users showed a higher click rate with option #2.

Plus considering its scannability and better discoverability, we chose design #2 as the template for all holiday upsell cards.
